Description

Rolyan Original Hemi Arm Sling enhances normal gait pattern. Its elastic straps are dynamic, allowing a patient to actively move returning muscles and perform self-ranging exercises. The supports enable hemiplegics to use their affected arm as an assist during functional tasks. It positions the head of the humerus in the glenoid fossa and the scapula in external rotation.

How to Use Rolyan Original Hemi Arm Slings?

• Open hook-and-loop closures on arm cuff and chest strap (strap that is not attached to O-ring).
• Adjust the three remaining straps to their longest length.
• With loose chest strap toward front of body and O-ring toward back, put unaffected arm through loop that has plastic strap protector and pull strap protector into underarm area
• Bring arm cuff across back and place over distal aspect of biceps.
• Secure hookand-loop closure.
• The O-ring should not be centered on back – it should lie toward theunaffected arm.
• Adjust length of strap around unaffected shoulder so thestrap is snug.
• Fasten chest strap.
• Adjust posterior strap and strap across clavicle to provide the desired positioning of humerus.
• After strap length and arm cuff circumference are determined, mark straps and cuff to indicate proper length for future application

Indications:

• To support a subluxed shoulder

Contraindications:

• Not in the presence of a fracture

Precautions:

• These products are to be fitted initially by a healthcare professional who is familiar with the purpose for which they are prescribed.
• The healthcare professional is responsible for providing wearing instructions and precautions to other healthcare practitioners, care providers involved in the patient’s care, and the patient.
• If unusual swelling, skin discoloration or discomfort occurs, use should be discontinued and a healthcare professional consulted.
• Be careful that the sling and straps are not so tight that they interfere with circulation.

Care and Cleaning:

• Hand-wash with lukewarm water and mild soap.
• Wrap in towel to remove excess moisture and air dry. Be sure sling and cuff adapter are thoroughly dry before reapplication.
